It’s Unfortunate, but it is about your Economic Engine
With all the corruption going on in big business and the corporate world there is a part of me that says, “These guys were after the money, that’s all they cared about, it was about greed!” Here’s the harsh reality though. It is about the money. Some of you may be saying, “Wait, but business is about bringing value to the world”. I agree. Others of you may be saying, “Business is about meeting the customer at the level of their need, and then profits come naturally.” I agree. But you cannot forget your economic engine!
What is an economic engine? It is some type of product or service that can be delivered on a repeatable basis that all strategies, systems, and processes within a business are built around, with the goal of profit (bringing more in than you’re spending). This sounds incredibly simple but in today’s world it has become increasingly difficult.
Here’s the situation modern business is in. It’s ultimately all about the economic engine and making money but the customer doesn’t want to listen and be pitched about your product and service. As Stephen Palmer articulated yesterday in his article Who are Salesman Trying to Fool?, we all are becoming tired of the salesman. In short, companies large and small need to incorporate a hub mentality.
There are ten components of the hub mentality, as seen here.

the ten principles to the hub mentality
I’m not going into great depth on any one of these right now but suffice it to say, you have to be doing these ten things to make your business stand out, optimize market share, and create new opportunity. As you implement the hub mentality principles, you must keep your eyes on the economic engine. It’s all gets built around what makes you money.
